Jaydn Ott Pac-12 Freshman Of The Week Again

Jaydn Ott has been named the Pac-12 Freshman Player of the Week for the second consecutive week.

BERKELEY – Jaydn Ott became the first Cal player to earn Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honors for the second consecutive week with his most recent performance in Cal's 20-14 win over UNLV last Saturday at FTX Field at California Memorial Stadium. Ott is the first Cal player to earn the honor in back-to-back weeks since its inception in 2019. Lu-Magia Hearns III is the only other Cal player to pick up the honor for his performance in the Golden Bears' 2021 Big Game victory at Stanford.

— Ranks third in the Pac-12 in rush yards per carry (6.5) while he is fourth in rushing yards (156) and rushing yards per game (78.0), which leads all Pac-12 freshmen and is fourth among the nation's rookies
— Had both a rushing and receiving touchdown in last Saturday's win over UNLV both in the first quarter to become the first Cal player to have both a rushing and receiving touchdown in a contest since Christopher Brown Jr. against Washington State on Nov. 9, 2019
— Finished the contest against UNLV with seven rushes for 52 yards and a career-high three receptions for 16 yards to go with the two touchdowns
— Rushed for 104 yards on 17 carries and added 26 yards receiving on two receptions including one touchdown in the season-opening win over UC Davis on Sept. 3
— Became the first player to rush for 100 yards or more in his Cal debut since then redshirt freshman Shane Vereen rushed for 101 yards on nine carries in a 38-31 home win over Michigan State in the team's season-opening game against Michigan State on August 30, 2008
— Ott's 130 yards from scrimmage (rushing and receiving) against UC Davis were the most by a player in his Cal debut since Keenan Allen had 158 yards from scrimmage (38 rushing, 120 receiving) against UC Davis on Sept. 4, 2010
— A preseason All-Pac-12 fourth-team selection by Phil Steele and a member of the Polynesian College Football Player of the Year Watch List both announced prior to his 2022 freshman campaign
— Played 23 prep games over two seasons at Norco High School as a 2018 freshman and 2021 senior
— Rushed for 2236 yards and 30 touchdowns as a prep on 265 carries for averages of 97.2 yards per game rushing with 12 100-yard rushing games and an average of 8.4 yards per carry, while adding 17 receptions for 228 yards and one touchdown, as well as one kick return for 16 yards for a total of 2480 all-purpose yards
— Earned MaxPreps Big XIII League Back of the Year honors as a 2021 senior when he rushed for 1140 yards and 17 touchdowns on 114 carries for a 10.0 yards per rush average, while adding 11 receptions for 154 yards as well as his lone career prep kick return for 16 yards (all career highs) and both of his career two-point rushing conversions
— Rushed for 1096 yards and 13 touchdowns on a career-high 151 carries for a 7.3 yards per rush average, while adding six receptions for 74 yards and his lone career touchdown reception as a 2018 freshman to earn MaxPreps Freshman All-American honors
