Arizona Sweeps Day One of Wildcat Classic

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona swept Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and beat UTEP in four sets on day one of the Wildcat Classic.
 
Sofia Maldonado Diaz had 10 or more kills in both games. Arizona's defense dominated UTEP, tallying 18.0 blocks in the four-set win.

Arizona swept TAMUCC 25-22, 26-24, 25-11 to open the Wildcat Classic. Sofia Maldonado Diaz led Arizona with 10 kills and a .391 clip. Zyonna Fellows led the defense with three blocks and Emery Herman and Ana Heath had two blocks each.
 
Match 2 | Arizona 3, UTEP 0
Arizona beat UTEP in four sets, 25-14, 19-25, 25-20, 25-23, to end day one of the Wildcat Classic. The Wildcats recorded 12 kills in the first set – six of which belonged to Maldonado Diaz – and hit .435 as a team. After Arizona dropped the second set to the Miners, Fellows led the Cats to the third set win with five blocks. In the fourth set, Puk Stubbe found her rhythm and led the attack with five kills.
