Sep 16, 2022

SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah swimming and diving team held their Intrasquad Meet on Friday at the Ute Natatorium and freshman Evan VanBrocklin and senior Summer Stanfield took home the honors of King and Queen of the Pool.

"I was pleased with the meet today," said coach Jonas Persson. "We had fun and raced hard. It was a good experience for our first Queen and King of the Pool."

In a competition that included five events, VanBrocklin outpaced the field in the men's pentathlon to land atop the podium, and he was followed by JP Hynes, who placed second, and Marko Kovacic, who took third.

The meet was just as competitive on the women's side, with Stanfield nabbing first place ahead of Kayla Miller, who landed in second, while Charity Pittard came in third. Just outside the top three were a trio of freshman, as Hilja Schimmel finished fourth, Erin Palmer captured fifth and sixth place was occupied by Lily Milner.

The Utes will now set their sights on Sept. 23, which is when they'll travel to Provo, Utah to begin their season with a relay meet against BYU.
