A Pair of Pummeling Wins

WHITTIER, Calif. - No. 4 Stanford cruised to two big wins on Saturday on the campus of Whittier College, defeating the host Poets 22-3 in the morning, followed by a 25-3 victory over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the afternoon.

The Cardinal improves to 8-0 on the year and is back in action on Sunday at No. 15 Loyola Marymount.

The dominating day started off on a high note for the Cardinal, as Stanford surged to a 12-0 lead through two periods and some change over the Poets. 11 different players scored in the victory, while the three goals allowed by the Cardinal and goalkeeper Nolan Krutonog are the lowest since shutting out Penn State Behrend in spring of 2021.

Andrew Churukian's three goals mark a career-high for the senior, joined with hat tricks from Soren Jense, Beck Jurasius, Jack Martin and Walker Seymour.

It was more of the same for Stanford in its second matchup of the day, scoring the game's first nine goals, all from different players. The Cardinal was exceedingly efficient near the goal, scoring 10 goals from the center position, including a career-high eight from junior Ike Love.

Goalkeeper Nolan Krutonog scored his first career goal on a skip shot with time running out in the second quarter.
