Habgood Sits in Fourth at the End of the First Round at the 2022 Badger Invitational

MADISON, WIS. – Fifth-year senior Darcy Habgood kicked off the 2022 fall season in a big way during the first round of the 2022 Badger Invitational Sunday, Sept. 18, as the Australian native finished the afternoon tied for fourth on the player leaderboard after carding 1-under; 71. The Cougars also hold a spot inside the top-five on the team leaderboard, as WSU sits in a tie for fifth place after shooting 295 (+1) in the first round.

Habgood was fantastic on par-3 holes in her first go-around at the University Ridge Golf Course, as shot 2-under on par 3's to lead the field with two other golfers. The fifth-year senior sat at even par with two holes left to play in the first round then went on to birdie hole 17 to put her at 1-under par heading into the 18th. Habgood, who is utilizing her extra year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic, shot par on the final hole to close her day out at 1-under; 71. She will begin Monday's second round in a tie for fourth place on the player leaderboard at 1-under; 71.

The Cougars, who are playing in their first tournament under the direction of head coach Sofie Aagaard, sit in a tie for fifth place on the team leaderboard at the end of the first round with Colorado State. Washington State carded 7-over; 295 in Sunday's first round and shot par on a total of 62 holes in the first round to lead the field.

Redshirt sophomore Jinyu Wu and sophomore Madelyn Gamble are tied for 23rd after each shot 2-over; 74 in their first round of the 2022 fall season. Gamble carded ever-par on 15 holes in the first round to lead the field, while Wu finished with the second-most birdies in the round with four.

Notre Dame sits atop the team leaderboard after 18 holes of play at the 2022 Badger Invitational. The Fighting Irish carded 4-under; 284 in Sunday's first round, as Notre Dame takes an eight-stroke lead over second-place Nebraska going into the second round. Notre Dame's Lauren Beaudreau leads the field at the end of the first round, as she shot 5-under; 67 in the first round.

The second round of the 2022 Badger Invitational gets underway Monday, Sept. 19 with Washington State teeing off at 7:50 a.m. PT. Fans can follow all the action at GolfStat.com.
