Beavers Open Pac-12 Slate with Washington State

Sep 22, 2022

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State women's soccer team will return to the field for the first time in 12 days when they take on Washington State in the Pac-12 opener for both sides. Friday will also mark the first time the Beavers will play on their home field for the first time since September 1 – a 2-0 win over Boise State.

In their last time out, Sawyer Service's 54th minute goal was the difference in a 1-0 road win over James Madison on September 11 in Harrisonburg, Va. Hailey Coll needed to make just three stops to keep the Dukes off the board for her second clean sheet of the season.
Since going 0-1-1 in their first two contests, the Cougars have rattled off six consecutive wins heading into league play. Margie Detrizio's 18 points from seven goals and helping on four others leads the Cougars' attack through their eight matches played. Grayson Lynch follows with seven points from three goals and an assist while a trio – Lily Boyden, MacKenzie Frimpong-Ellertson and Sydney Studer – each have contributed four points.

Nadia Cooper has seen the bulk of the minutes – over 705 to be exact – in net for the Cougars. Making eight starts, she's stopped a dozen shots and only conceded eight goals. Aurora Schuck has seen just under 15 minutes and tallied a pair of saves.

Washington State spoiled the penultimate home game of the season for the Beavers as they used goals in the 89th and 99th minutes to win 3-2 at Paul Lorenz Field. McKenna Martinez – a Washingtonian – led Oregon State with a brace. Helena Brown assisted on both while Sawyer Service helped on Martinez's first score.
