Sep 25, 2022

PARIS – In her return to international competition for the first time since the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Oregon State gymnast and Olympic gold medalist Jade Carey put together a pair of stunning performances to take home a gold medal on vault and silver medal on beam during Sunday's final at the Paris World Challenge Cup at Accor Arena.
"Jade had an impressive performance at the Paris World Challenge Cup competition," said Jade's coach and father Brian Carey. "She is on track in preparation for the World Selection Camp coming up October 20-23 in Katy, Texas."
Carey opened the finals on vault where she took gold with a Cheng in her first attempt, earning a 14.750 from the judges, before following up with a Yurchenko double that received a 14.000. Averaging 14.375, Carey improved her prelim score of 14.350 slightly to take first in the event.
For the first time in her career, Carey earned an international medal on beam. In the leadoff spot for the finals, Carey completed her routine with a double pike dismount, receiving a 13.750 to close her competition in Paris and take second via a tiebreak with French gymnast Marine Boyer.2023 SEASON TICKETS
