Stanford Falls at Oregon

EUGENE, Ore. – No. 5 Stanford dropped its first road match of the season, falling  to No. 21 Oregon, 19-25, 25-27, 17-25, Sunday, at Matthew Knight Arena.

Playing in its second straight match without starting middle blocker Sami Francis, Stanford (6-4, 1-1 Pac-12) was out hit by Oregon (8-2, 2-0 Pac-12), .327 to .250. The Cardinal had a season-low 4.0 blocks, while the Ducks posted 7.0. Oregon also had a 55-47 advantage in digs and a 5-2 edge in aces.

Opposite Kendall Kipp led the team with 13 kills, two blocks and two aces. Outside hitter Caitie Baird registered her first double-double of the season with 10 kills on .375 hitting and a season-best 13 digs.

Setter Kami Miner dished out 35 assists and had a season-high four kills. Libero Elena Oglivie tied for a match-high with 14 digs. Defensive specialists Taylor Beaven and Kelly Belardi combined for nine digs.
 

Stanford jumped out to an early lead in the second, but Oregon fought back and won six of the final seven points to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

Freshman outside hitter Elia Rubin totaled eight kills and seven digs, but was held to .067 hitting. Middle blocker McKenna Vicini finished with five kills, while Annabelle Smith added two kills and three blocks.

Oregon was led by Mimi Colyer's 15 kills and 10 digs, while Brooke Nuneviller chipped in with 14 kills and 14 digs.

Stanford returns to The Farm next week, playing host to No. 18 Washington on Friday. First serve is set for 6 p.m. on Pac-12 Washington.
