EUGENE, Ore. – For a second-consecutive week, and fourth time this season, outside hitter Mimi Colyer is the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week as announced Monday afternoon by the league office. The Lincoln, Calif., native put down 4.43 kills per set while hitting .299 during the opening week of Pac-12 play.
Additionally, Oregon checks in at a season-high No. 16 in Monday's release of the AVCA rankings. The Ducks are 8-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play after wins over Oregon State and Stanford.
In her conference debut, Colyer tied for the team-lead with 16 kills coupled with a .314 hitting efficiency in the Ducks' four-set win at Oregon State. She also tallied three blocks and two digs against the in-state rival.
Colyer led all players with 15 kills including the match winner in Oregon's sweep of then-No. 5 Stanford, and added 10 digs to complete her third double-double of the season. In the second set, Colyer had two aces late in the frame during the Ducks' comeback from a 24-21 deficit; Oregon won the set, 27-25.
Through the first 10 matches of her collegiate career, Colyer is seventh in the Pac-12 with 3.44 kills per set. Colyer and Brooke Nuneviller (in 2018) are now tied for the UO record with four Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honors.
The Ducks host Arizona State on Friday, Sept. 30, at Matthew Knight Arena with first serve scheduled for 6 p.m. (PT).
