Men’s Tennis Host Utah Invite; Travel to Boise State

FIRST SERVE
The Utah men's tennis team jumps into full action this coming weekend, competing in two tournaments. The Utes will have players competing at the Utah Invitational #1 and the Dar Walters Invitational from Friday to Sunday. 
 
Utah will also have two members of its team heading to Tulsa, Okla., to play in the ITA All-American Championships that start Saturday.

UTAH INVITE
The Utah men's tennis program will host the first tournament of the fall season beginning this Friday morning, Sept. 30, at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center. The host team will consist of Jayson and Michael Blando, Berk Bugarikj, and Patrik Trhac. This tournament will be Burgarikj's collegiate debut and Trhac's first appearance as a Ute after transferring from Idaho State. The team will face competition from Montana, Idaho State, Utah State, and Weber State.
 
DAR WALTERS CLASSIC
Utah's Charlie Spina, Dylan Applegate, Geremia Rossi, and Rian Ta will be on the road to compete at the Dar Walters Invitational in Boise, Idaho. Action is set to start on Friday morning at the Appleton Tennis Center. The Utah squad will compete with host team Boise State as well as teams from Idaho, Eastern Washington, and Oregon. The Dar Walters Classic will be a Davis Cup-style format with players competing in one doubles and two singles matches against another team. The winner of two of three matches will advance in each draw.
 
ITA ALL-AMERICAN 
The ITA All-American Championships will start this Saturday, Oct. 1, in Tulsa, Okla. Utes Franco Capalbo and Geronimo Espin Busleiman qualified for the tournament's main draw for singles and main draw doubles for the second year in a row. The matches will take place at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the University of Tulsa campus and the Case Tennis Center at LaFortune Park in Tulsa. The Ute duo will begin competition on Wednesday, Oct. 5, when main draw matches start.
 
Espin Busleiman comes into the season ranked 71st in singles, while teammate Capalbo is ranked 83rd. As a doubles team, the duo is ranked as the 8th best doubles team.
