Bears To Compete At Blessings Collegiate Invitational
The Cal women's golf team continues a busy stretch this week when it competes at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.
The Bears are coming off a 4-2 loss to Stanford in the Big Match on Thursday. They had one day off before traveling to Arkansas, where they will be part of an 11-team field competing at the par-72, 6,452-yard course at Blessings Golf Club.
The tournament will be televised by The Golf Channel.
Cal had a strong showing at the season-opening USF Intercollegiate in September, placing third out of 10 teams and finishing just one stroke behind then-No. 5 UCLA for second place.
Junior Cristina Ochoa and sophomore Jieming Yang picked up match play victories at the Big Match. Ochoa also finished third individually at the USF Intercollegiate with a career-best score of 6-under par.
Six of the 11 teams participating in The Blessings Collegiate Invitational are in the most recent Golfweek national rankings – No. 2 Texas A&M, No. 7 Mississippi, No. 8 Clemson, No. 11 Mississippi State, No. 14 Central Florida and No. 15 Arkansas. The tournament also features Kansas, Louisville, UCLA and UNLV.
The event runs Monday through Wednesday. The Bears tee off at 9 a.m. PT on Monday.
