Macchi and Snow finish second at the Burnaby Small Boat Invitational
BURNABY, B.C. – The duo of junior Ilaria Macchi and freshman Siena Snow captured a second-place finish in the pairs 250-meter sprint final at the 11th Annual Burnaby Small Boat Invitational to highlight Washington State rowing's first meet of the 2022-23 season.
Macchi and Snow finished just 0.401 seconds behind a pair from the University of British Columbia to take second place in the 250-meter sprint finale at the 11th Burnaby Small Boat Invitational. The WSU duo clocked in at 53.208 in the finals. Macchi and Snow advanced to the 250-meter sprint final after finishing fourth in the morning's 4-kilometer race with a time of 17:03.745.
Fifth-year senior Samantha Schmidt advanced to the single scull 250-meter sprint final, where she placed sixth with a time of 1:07.587. Schmidt moved on to the finale after finishing fifth in the morning's 4-kilometer single scull race, clocking in at 18:35.786.
Washington State had three boats place inside the top 15 in the pairs 4-kilometer race. The duo of senior Madeleine Pollard and sophomore Hannah Elliott finished 10th in the 32-boat race with a time of 17:17.681. Senior Caitlin Donaldson and sophomore Fiona Elliott finished right behind Pollard and H. Elliott, finishing the 4-kilometer race in 17:19.006.
WSU competed against Washington, Simon Fraser, and the University of British Columbia at the 11th Annual Burnaby Small Boat Invitational. WSU's current graduate assistant Nicole Hare won the title of Regatta Champion in the single sculls, as she won the 250-meter sprint finale with a time of 55.289.
