LOS ANGELES – Iman Ndiaye tallied a career-high 22 kills at .421 in the UCLA women's volleyball team's 3-1 loss (19-25, 24-26, 25-23, 23-25) to Colorado at Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom Sunday afternoon.
Outside hitter élan McCall recorded her fourth double-double of the season and second of the weekend with 18 kills and 12 digs. Joining McCall with a double-double performance was setter Matti McKissock with 51 assists and 13 digs
As a team, the Bruins (6-7, 0-4 Pac-12) hit 67 kills at .195 compared to the Buffaloes' (11-3, 3-1 Pac-12) 50 at .227. Leading the Buffaloes' attack was Maya Tabron with 17 kills at a .357 clip. Former Bruin Lexi Hadrych joined Tabron in double-figure kills with 13.
Colorado out-blocked UCLA 20 to 12, led by middle blocker Alexia Kuehl with 10 block assists. Meegan Hart swatted away seven balls for three solo blocks and four block assists. Five of Hart's seven blocks came in the first set, including the set finisher. The Bruins had 11 total attack errors in the set.
McCall caught fire in the second set with eight kills on 10 swings to go along with four digs. UCLA trailed 24-22 when back-to-back kills by McCall evened the frame, 24-24, forcing extra points. However, a kill by Hadrych and a Kuehl block dashed the Bruins' comeback.
Ndiaye spotted another eight spot in the kill column in the third set, putting away UCLA's final two points with kills. She finished the fourth and final frame with six more kills at a .444 clip to push her total to 22 for the first 20-kill outing by a Bruin this season.
