Dorian Thompson-Robinson was named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week in the league's Monday announcement of the Pac-12 Football Performance Awards presented by Nextiva. DTR was also named a Manning Award Star of the Week, Tournament of Roses and Rose Bowl Game Committee Week 5 Pac-12 Player of the Week and Monday Morning Quarterback of the Week by the East-West Shrine Bowl.
Thompson-Robinson accounted for four touchdowns and completed 24 of 33 passing attempts for 315 yards in leading UCLA to a win last Friday night over then-No. 15 Washington. It marked the fourth time in five outings this season that Thompson-Robinson had completed at least 72% of his passes. His three passing touchdowns (12, 15 and 39 yards) lifted Thompson-Robinson's career total to 72 which is three behind all-time school leader Brett Hundley's (2011-14) total of 75. The redshirt senior averaged 13.1 yards per completion against the Huskies. Thompson-Robinson also ran for 53 yards on 10 attempts and a touchdown in the game.
The redshirt senior is off to a great start to begin the 2022 season and enters this week's games rated fourth in the nation in completion percentage (.743) and 12th in the country in passing efficiency (171.4). He is first in the Pac-12 in each category. Over the course of UCLA's current eight-game winning streak, Thompson-Robinson has completed .727 of his passes (157-216) while throwing for 1,981 yards, 18 TDs, 4 interceptions. He has run 64 times for 463 yards (7.2 avg.) and six touchdowns. He has thrown at least one TD pass in each of the last seven games and in 15 of the last 16 contests. DTR continues to move up the UCLA charts and became just the third Bruin QB to record 10,000 yards of total offense (10,156 yards) during his performance against Washington (Cade McNown is second - 11,285). He has elevated to fourth on the school list in career passing yards with 8,752 yards and now sits behind No. 3 Josh Rosen (2015-17, at 9,341).
Last season, Thompson-Robinson led the Pac-12 in pass efficiency rating (153.9), total offense (274.4 yards/g), points responsible for (182), passing yards per completion (13.69) and passing yards per pass attempt (8.51). He also rated No. 10 in the Pac-12 in rushing yards per game (55.36). He totaled over 300 yards of offense in 2021 games against Fresno State (345), Arizona State (330), Colorado (355) and USC (395). In that USC contest, he ran for two scores and passed for four more. Thompson-Robinson was named first-team All-Pac-12 by the Associated Press.
In 2020, Thompson-Robinson posted a pass efficiency rating of 156.29 which was the highest by a Bruin starting quarterback since 2005. He became the first Bruin to rush for at least 100 yards (109) and pass for at least 300 yards (303) in the same game (at Colorado). Thompson-Robinson completed 30 of his 36 passing attempts against USC that season for an .833 completion percentage which was the highest mark by any Bruin signal caller in a game with at least 30 passing attempts. He tossed a season-high four touchdowns in contests against both Colorado and USC. Thompson-Robinson rushed for 306 yards on the season with a 5.6 yards per attempt average. The league coaches named him to the second-team All-Pac-12 squad.
In 2019, Thompson-Robinson established a new school record with 564 yards of total offense in a come-from-behind win at Washington State. He joined Josh Rosen, Cade McNown and Brett Hundley as the only Bruins to record multiple 400-yard total offense games for their careers.
The Bruins will host No. 11 Utah on Saturday in Rose Bowl Stadium. The FOX broadcast of the Pac-12 Conference contest will begin at 12:30 p.m.
