TUCSON –– Arizona State cross country's final meet before the Pac-12 Championships, Arizona's Dave Murray Invitational, was highlighted by Vincent Mauri running a 23:20.4 to win the men's 8K for his second-consecutive victory this season, helping the men to a second-place finish. Lena Lebrun led the women's team, finishing ninth in the 6K in 21:02.4, helping the women to a fourth-place finish. Freshman Trevor Querciagrossa ran a 23:25.7 to finish 9th on the men's side, rounding out AUS's top-10 racers. Arizona State will now prepare for the Pac-12 Championships which take place on October 28 in Riverside, Calif.
Mauri has now won the Dave Murray Invitational for two consecutive seasons. This time around he outdid the competition by 37 seconds, the next fastest finisher being Ian Sanchez Lops from Arizona (23:57.5). In the women's race, Lebrun was just under a minute away from race leader Ruth Jerubet (UTEP, 20:09.3) and 44 seconds ahead of teammate Jenna Lee (21:46.0).
