Matsuoka to Represent Team Canada in Super Sixes Event
OSHAWA, Ontario – Duck Sophomore Alex Matsuoka will represent her home nation in this year's 2022 Super Sixes event after being selected to Team Canada. Occurring in Oshawa, Ontario, the contest will also include England and the Haudenosaunee from October 7-9 at Civic Stadium Field. This World Lacrosse friendly event is a continuing effort to promote sixes on the international stage.
Matsuoka enters her second year as a part of the Oregon lacrosse program. The Calgary, Alberta native earned her first career start against Stanford in the PAC-12 semifinal matchup while playing in six of the Ducks' final 10 games of the season.
Former Duck Shonly Wallace will join Matsuoka in Oshawa this weekend. Last season, Wallace led the Ducks in points (51) and assists (11) while also finishing second on the team in goals (40). She also earned PAC-12 All-Tournament team honors in her final season in Eugene.
This is the second consecutive year that a member of the Ducks is participating in an international sixes event. Last October, goalie Cassidy Eckert and Wallace took part in a World Lacrosse Super Sixes event in Sparks, Md.
The World Lacrosse Six on Six model is played on a condensed, 70 x 36 meter field with eight minute quarters and a 30 second shot clock. Teams field six players at a time and roster a total of 12 players.
Admission is free to all attending spectators and live streaming information will be made available in the coming days.
