No. 1 Washington Shuts Out Cal
SEATTLE – Gio Miglietti netted the game-winner in the 75th minute for No. 1 Washington on the way to a 1-0 win over Cal on Sunday afternoon. Washington (11-0-1, 4-0-0) secured its seventh straight win and seventh shutout overall.
The Huskies first chance of the contest came in the 42nd minute off a free kick into the box, but the shot from Omar Grey missed just left.
Miglietti's goal in the 75th came off the corner kick by Gabe Threadgold. Rosales sent in the ball to Lucas Meek, who's shot hot off the cross bar and Miglietti headed in the deflection for the 1-0 lead.
Cal's first opportunity came in the 78th minute, but the shot came right at goalkeeper Jadon Bowton for his first save of the contest to keep the Washington lead at one.
The Washington defense was locked down, allowed just three shots by the Golden Bears – only one on goal.
