Strong Start At Seminole

Oct 10, 2022

JUNO BEACH, Fla. – No. 2 Stanford men's golf had its second round of play at The Stephens Cup suspended due to darkness Monday night at Seminole Golf Club. The Cardinal sits in third place at 14-under, just one stroke off Florida State for second. The top two teams following Tuesday's third round will advance to the championship match on Wednesday, with the next two finishers qualifying for a consolation match.

Stanford will finish its second round on Tuesday before beginning its third round, which will be televisted on GOLF Channel from 1-4 p.m. PT.

The Cardinal is led by Michael Thorbjornsen, who is tied for eighth and looking for his third-straight Top 10 to start the season. He fired a 3-under 69 to open the day and is currently 2-under through 15 of his second round.

Junior Karl Vilips started the day with an opening-round, 6-under 66, but withdrew from the afternoon round due to injury. He would be eligible to return for the third round, if able, but would just factor into the team score and not the individual medalist race.

Senior Barclay Brown shot a 2-under 70 to open the day and is 1-under through 17 of his second round to sit at a tie for 14th. Nate Menon, who opened the day with a 2-over 74, tallied five birdies and is 2-under through 17 of his second round.
