Oct 15, 2022

Freshman Ashlee Gallegos led the Trojans at the Bronco Invitational (6K) held at Baylands Park in Sunnyvale, Calif. today (Oct. 15). Three of the five Trojans competing ran their first or posted their fastest 6K time.

"We had season's bests from Vienna, Jacqui and Brooke," said USC Associate Head Coach of Cross Country Jebreh Harris. "On the other hand, this was Ashlee's first 6K and Maya's first race in a year. As a team we've been training hard and making progress in training. I'm looking forward to putting our best foot forward when we host the Pac-12 Championships."

Gallegos, running her first 6K race and first race since the opener on Sept. 3, led USC with a time of 22.24.4 to finish 133rd overall and 29th among the freshmen competing.

Sophomore Maya Lacamp was the next Trojan to finish and she had a time of 22:51.8 to place 162nd overall. It was her first competition since Nov. 12, 2021. Sophomore Vienna Gao had a 6K PR of 23:09.8 to finish 176th and redshirt freshman Jacqueline Duarte had a PR of 23:50.8 to place 197th.

USC's final scoring runner was senior Brooke Rodi who had a time of 24:42.4 to place 213th. Her time was more than a minute faster than her last 6K race.

Next for the Trojans will be the 2022 Pac-12 Cross Country Championships which they will host at the Ag Ops Course in Riverside, Calif on Oct. 28. The women's 6K race will begin at 8:40 a.m. and the men's 8K race is scheduled to begin at 9:40 a.m. The 2022 Pac-12 Cross Country Championships will be aired on the Pac-12 Network.
