USC Men’s Water Polo’s Di Martire, Ehrhardt, Molthen Named To Cutino Award Watch List

Oct 20, 2022

USC men's water polo has landed a trio of Trojans on the Watch List for collegiate water polo's highest honor — the Peter J. Cutino Award. In the inaugural season of the Watch List, USC's Massimo Di Martire, Jake Ehrhardt and Ashworth Molthen have all earned a place on the list on the men's side.

The three Trojans account for 105 of USC's 249 goals scored to date, while each also plays a key role on the defensive end. A grad student in his first season at USC, Di Martire currently leads the MPSF in scoring with 42 goals. Molthen (32 goals) and Ehrhardt (31) are both in their final season as Trojans, looking to extend USC's run of NCAA appearances out to an 18th straight season.

The 2022-23 Cutino Award Watch List is a collaboration of USA Water Polo, The Olympic Club and the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC), with 20 male athletes, as submitted by varsity college coaches around the country, recognized for their excellent play. The Peter J. Cutino Award, named in honor of the late Hall of Fame coach, recognizes the best player in men's and women's college water polo.

The Watch List is completely independent from the nomination and voting process for the Cutino Award, as that honor will acknowledge the full impact of the 2022 season. A women's Cutino Award Watch List will be shared in Spring 2023.
