Carey Named To 2022 U.S. Women’s World Team Roster

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State gymnastics sophomore Jade Carey will compete at the World Gymnastics Championships for the second time in her career, having been named to the U.S. roster after two days of competition in Katy, Texas.

Carey was one of three collegiate gymnasts named to the six-member roster for the United States, joining Jordan Chiles of UCLA and Leanne Wong of Florida, while Shilese Jones, Skye Blakely and replacement Lisa Zeiss rounded out the squad as determined by the Athlete Selection Committee.

The group is set to depart for Liverpool, England tomorrow to compete at the M&S Bank Arena beginning on Oct. 29.

Already a three-time World silver medalist, Carey booked another trip to Worlds behind a 13.750 on beam during the opening day of selection camp for the top score in the event, while her all-around score of 55.450 was good for third amongst competitors on Friday.

Carey returned to international competition for the first time since taking gold on floor at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics this Fall, competing at the Paris World Challenge Cup in September, where she earned gold on vault and silver on beam.

The U.S. team will be led by Jade's father, Brian Carey in Liverpool, while assisted by Sarah Korngold.
