No. 2 Bears Roll Past No. 19 George Washington on Senior Day

BERKELEY, Calif. - The No. 2 California men's water polo team held No. 19 George Washington scoreless for the final 10:51 of the contest, defeating the Colonials 24-10 Saturday afternoon at Spieker Aquatics Center.

The Bears got out to a comfortable lead early in the game, heading into halftime with a 12-6 advantage over George Washington.Valera scored four goals and added one assist for six points in the game. 

Sophomore attacker Roberto Valera snapped a four-goal Colonials streak late in the third quarter, and the Bears would go on to score nine more in a row to close out the match. 13 different players scored for Cal in the contest.

Prior to the game, Cal celebrated Senior Day as they honored Joe Molina, Marko Valecic and Jack Deely for their contributions to the program over their collegiate careers. Deely finished with six points on the day, scoring one goal and assisting on five others.

Junior goalkeeper Adrian Weinberg notched 14 saves and two assists in the effort.

The Bears continue regular season MPSF play next weekend as they head to UCLA Saturday. Oct. 29 at 1 p.m.
