USC Men’s Tennis Sweeps ITA Southwest Regional Championships

MALIBU, CALIF. – The USC men's tennis team reigned supreme on Monday as Troy swept the ITA Southwest Regional Championships, capturing both the singles and doubles title. Junior Peter Makk was crowned singles champion while seniors Bradley Frye and Stefan Dostanic walked away with the doubles title. 
 
The No. 1 seeded pair in the doubles draw, seniors Stefan Dostanic and Bradley Frye— teamed up to squash their first four opponents to work their way into today's final. In the championship final, the Trojan duo squared off against Pepperdine's Daniel De Jonge and Tim Zeitvogel, eventually taking down the Waves 6-7, 7-5, [10-7].
 
In singles, the No. 5 seeded Makk won six matches in total at the championships, defeating 12-seed Herman Hoeyeraal 6-4, 7-6(5) during the semifinals to secure a spot in the finals. Makk faced No. 3 seed Alexander Hoogmartens of UCLA in the championship final, battling back from a first set loss to defeat the Bruin 5-7, 6-1, 6-3. 
 
Up next, the Trojans return home this week for action at the SoCal Intercollegiate Championships, hosted by the USTA at Marks Stadium (Oct. 27-30).
