Oregon State to Face Arizona, ASU in Weekend Set

Oct 26, 2022

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State will wind down the 2022 slate with two of the three final matches of the season, against Arizona and Arizona State.

The Beavers will face the Wildcats in Tucson on Thursday night before a Sunday afternoon clash with the Sun Devils in Tempe.

Winners of three of their last five, Arizona comes into the Thursday night match versus OSU with a 6-6-3 mark and 3-4-1 in league play. Hope Hisey has earned three consecutive clean sheets with two wins and a draw in her last three, while just needing to make just 10 combined stops. A trio of Wildcats – Sami Baytosh, Nicole Dallin and Jordan Hall – lead the team with two goals each. Baytosh paces the Arizona offense overall with seven points – from the pair of goals and three assists.

Oregon State took a 2-0 win over the Wildcats at Paul Lorenz Field last October after goals scored by Sophie Conrad and Amber Jackson. Conrad opened up the scoring on a 12th minute goal when Laura Galceran fed her a pass. Brianna McReynolds' assist on Jackson's strike in the 51st completed the result for the Beavers.

The Sun Devils enter the weekend slate of matches with a 7-4-3 mark and a 3-4-1 conference record ahead of their Thursday meeting with Oregon. Nicole Douglas' 20 points – from nine goals and a pair of assists - leads the Sun Devils offense while a pair – Eva van Deursen and Alexia Delgado – have each tallied five goals. Pauline Nelles has totaled nearly 1,115 minutes in net and has made 58 stops.

Oregon State collected its two goals in the 2-1 win in the match's first 20 minutes last October. An own goal (19') and a Brianna McReynolds score from a McKenna Martinez assist (20') were the difference over the Sun Devils at Paul Lorenz Field. ASU could not muster a comeback behind a late goal from Olivia Nguyen at the 89th minute as the Beavs held on for the league win.
