Romero Scores but Ducks Struggle at ASU

Oct 27, 2022

TEMPE, Ariz. – Oregon fell behind early and dropped a 5-1 decision to Arizona State Thursday at Sun Devil Soccer Stadium.

How it Happened: The Sun Devils (8-4-3, 4-4-1) got four goals from Nicole Douglas who scored in the first, 23rd, 24th and 74th minutes.

Lexi Romero scored for the Ducks (4-7-6, 2-5-2) in the 70th minute. Anna Emperador picked off a loose ball in ASU's end and hit Romero in the box from the end line. Romero slid the ball through traffic for her third goal of the season.

Zoe Hasenauer matched her season high with three shots, all of which were on frame.

Notable: Emperador's assist was the first of her career. … Jordan Snyder returned to the field for the first time since being injured on Sept. 8 versus Santa Clara. … The Ducks played without starting outside back Chai Cortez who was unavailable Thursday night after getting a red card (second yellow) Sunday against California.

Up Next: Oregon will be at Arizona at 1 p.m. on Sunday, (Pac-12 Live Stream) before closing out the 2022 season by hosting Oregon State on Nov. 4.
