Wildcats Defeat Beavers in 3-2 Decision

Oct 27, 2022

TUCSON - The Arizona soccer team defeated Oregon State on Thursday, scoring three goals on 17 shots to gain its fourth conference win of the season by a score of 3-2.

The Wildcats' (7-6-3, 4-4-1 Pac-12) three goals were their most in a single match this season.

The match started off with a flurry of scoring as the Beavers went up 1-0 in the fourth minute. While the Wildcats found themselves down early, they were quickly able to equalize the score with Iliana Hocking's 10th-minute goal. Jordan Hall passed the ball through traffic to Hocking, who made quick work of sending it straight past Oregon State goalkeeper Hailey Coll.

It took less than 10 minutes for Arizona to score again, this time on a penalty kick. Nicole Dallin took the shot and was able to convert to give the Wildcats a 2-1 lead in the 18th minute.

Arizona's third and final goal of the night came before halftime when Hall fed the ball to Dallin. With one defender and the goalkeeper between her and the net, Dallin wove sideways and got the third goal of the match.

Oregon State scored one more time, adding a second goal in the 72nd minute on a penalty kick.

A balanced scoring effort saw eight Wildcats with at least one shot, and Hall targeted the goal a match-leading five times.

Hope Hisey made three saves in the match to help lift Arizona to victory.

The Wildcats will be back in action Sunday, Oct. 30 at 1 p.m. PT against Oregon. The team will honor its senior class at the match. Tickets are available at arizonawildcats.com/soccer. The game will also be available via live stream on ArizonaWildcats.com.
