Ducks Cruise in Exhibition

EUGENE, Ore. – Led by a game-high 12 points apiece from a pair of freshmen in Jennah Isai and Grace VanSlooten, Oregon handled Carroll College 72-41 in an exhibition contest Friday night at Matthew Knight Arena.
 
VanSlooten shot 6-for-12 from the field added a team-leading nine rebounds to go with two steals and two blocks. Isai drained 4-of-6 shots from the field and hit on 4-of-5 free throws along with four rebounds and three assists.
 
The backcourt tandem of Endyia Rogers and Te-Hina Paopao reached double figures in scoring, with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Rogers added two steals and two assists while Paopao grabbed four rebounds.
 
Phillipina Kyei hauled in seven boards while blocking three shots and scoring seven points. Freshman Chance Gray put up seven points to go with two assists.
 
The Ducks outscored Carroll College 46-24 in the second half, including a 26-12 outburst in the third quarter. After trailing 11-10 after the opening quarter, UO owned a 62-30 edge the rest of the way.
 
Oregon committed just six turnovers while forcing the Saints into 17 giveaways behind 10 steals, creating a 20-0 advantage in points off turnovers. Additionally, the Ducks put up 23 fast-break points to Carroll College's 0 while holding a 50-14 edge in the paint.
 
Defensively, Oregon limited the Saints to 27.3 percent from the field and 21.4 percent from behind the three-point line.
 
UP NEXT
Oregon officially begins its 2022-23 campaign Monday, Nov. 7 at 3 p.m. against Northwestern at Matthew Knight Arena. The game will be the first half of a season-opening doubleheader, as the Duck men tip-off at 7 p.m. later that night.
