Oregon closes out the fall slate at the inaugural Cal Poly Invitational Monday and Tuesday at The Prestige Golf Club. Oregon will see a number of opponents from the Midwest, including Marquette, Michigan State, Northwestern and Ohio State, as well as SMU and South Florida.
WHAT TO WATCH
• Oregon comes into the week ranked No. 24 after entering the poll at No. 25 the prior week.
• In its last outing, Oregon tied for ninth at the Ben Hogan Invitational, a tournament that featured seven of the nation's top 10 teams. Greg Solhaug had his best performance of the fall (T15) to lead the Ducks.
• Oregon had a fourth-place finish at the Sept. 19-20 Husky Invitational. Oven Avrit led the team with his second-straight top-eight finish of the season. The Ducks also had a strong performance from Nate Stember, who tied for 11th. Freshman Aiden Krafft also recorded a top-20 finish for the Ducks.
• The Ducks had some terrific individual performances in the season-opening Maui Jim Intercollegiate. Greyson Leach tied for fifth at 12-under 198. His score included a career-low 65 in the second round. Owen Avrit tied for eighth at 11-under 199. He opened the tournament with a career-best 63 that was one shot off the Ducks' school record.
• Oregon returns five of its top six golfers from a team that finished 15th at the 2022 NCAA Championships. That list includes Owen Avrit (71.73), Greyson Leach (72.19), Nate Stember (72.44), Eric Doyle (72.81) and Greg Solhaug (72.86).
• The Ducks added three freshmen and one transfer to the squad for 2022-23. The freshmen are Daniel Bullen (Auchterarder, Scotland), Jay Gould-Healy (Cork, Ireland) and Aiden Krafft (Albuquerque, N.M. The other newcomer is junior Thomas Jenkins Jr. (Austin, Texas), a transfer from Sonoma State.
