No. 2 Bears Come Back To Beat No. 1 UCLA

Goalie Adrian Weinberg had 14 saves and four steals for the Bears.

LOS ANGELES - The No. 2 California men's water polo team mounted a tremendous comeback effort to defeat No. 1 UCLA, 10-9, in overtime Saturday afternoon at Spieker Aquatics Center. 

UCLA jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first quarter and maintained the advantage until sophomore attacker Max Casabella scored his fourth goal of the day with 19 seconds remaining in regulation, tying things up 8-8 and sending the game to overtime. 

Goals from Nik Mirkovic and Nikolaos Papanikolaou in the first and second overtime periods respectively pushed the Bears over the edge to give them the win.

Casabella led the Bears with four goals and three steals. 

Junior goalkeeper Adrian Weinberg had 14 saves and four steals.

The Bears remain on the road next week as they visit No. 14 San Jose State Sunday, Nov. 6 at 12 p.m.
