Beavs Enjoy Solid Performances At Head Of The American
GOLD RIVER, Calif. – Taking on some of the best teams the West coast has to offer, Oregon State women's rowing captured multiple top 10 performances at the Head of the American hosted by the Sacramento State Aquatic Center on Lake Natoma on Saturday afternoon.
The day started with the varsity pairs hitting the water for the Beavs. Out of 36 boats in the collegiate pairs race, the duo of Katie Judd and Muryn Green crossed the line in 21:02 to finish as the top boat for the Beavs in 10th place.
In the varsity 8+ race, the Orange and Black saw all three boats finish inside of the top 15, highlighted by the varsity A and varsity B shells finishing right behind one another in fifth and sixth with times of 17:25.5 and 17:27.3, respectively, while the varsity C boat finished 15th out of 26 boats, crossing in 17:59.8.
In the final race of the day, the women's collegiate 4+, the Beavers first varsity 4+ consisting of Giulia Clerici, Rhianna Loughnan, Rebecca Logan, Megan Lautner and Charlotte Gregory as cox finished the 5K course in 19:34.0 to earn third, finishing 12 seconds off the pace of first-place Washington State, who took the 16-boat race with a time of 19:22.7.
Oregon State concludes the Fall portion of the schedule in three weeks with the Orange and Black Regatta on Nov. 19. Registration for the event is open and can be found by clicking HERE.
