Cats Down Ducks on Senior Day

Oct 30, 2022

TUCSON - The Arizona soccer team defeated Oregon on Sunday in a four-goal thriller, taking down the Ducks 4-1. The four goals mark the most the Wildcats (8-6-3, 5-4-1 Pac-12) have scored in a single match this season.

Both teams got a few chances early on with Trinity Dorsey and Jordan Hall taking shots at the net for the Cats, but neither team was able to get the ball in the goal.

Nicole Dallin got her fifth goal of the season in the 21st minute off a free kick. The junior arced the ball over the Oregon line to send it past goalkeeper Julia Richards.

The Wildcats found the back of the net for the second time in the 33rd minute. Sami Baytosh received the ball from Mariah Dunn and headed it to Hall, who was able to head it in for her second goal in four matches.

Oregon netted a goal in the 39th minute as Zoe Hasenauer dished the ball to Kaitlyn Paculba for the header goal.

Going into the half, Arizona held the edge in shots with nine to Oregon's seven. Five of the Wildcats' first-half shots were on goal.

Hall recorded her second goal of the match in the 50th minute thanks to patience by Olivia Briede on the assist. Briede received the ball from Dallin near the goal and kept possession as Hall moved into place to receive the pass and take the shot.

The final score of the match came in the 89th minute when Desiree Foster took a shot from nearly the sideline that bounced off of an Oregon defender before going into the goal.

The Wildcats tallied 21 shots on the day for their most in a single match this season, remaining unbeaten when taking at least 15 shots in a game. Eleven of those 21 attempts were on goal.

Arizona competes in its final match of the regular season Friday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. as it makes the trip to Arizona State.
