Top-5 Battle Ends In Draw

STANFORD, Calif. – The No. 1 Huskies continued its undefeated season after a 3-3 draw with No. 5 Stanford on Sunday at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium.
 
With the tie, Washington (13-0-3, 5-0-2 Pac-12) set a new program record for best start to the season with a 16-match unbeaten streak.
 
Stanford got on the board first in the 21st minute when Shane de Flores hit his sixth goal of the season to put the Cardinal up 1-0.
 
Washington responded after earning a penalty kick when Lucas Meek was fouled in the box. Gio Miglietti converted the penalty kick goal for the equalizer in the 23rd minute.
 
The Cardinal countered three minutes later with its second goal of the evening.
 
The Huskies didn't back down and continued to fight as Imanol Rosales was awarded a free kick in the 35th minute. With Chris Meyers and Rosales back to take the kick, Rosales nailed in the shot from 30-yards out to bring the score to 2-2 at the break.
 
The goal marked Rosales' first of the season.
 
Washington had its first lead of the game in the 70th minute as Meek was awarded a free kick. Meyers sent the ball into the six-yard line for Miglietti to score his second goal of the match. Meyers' assist brings his total to 10 which puts him a tie for fifth in a single-season in program history.
 
The two-goal contest for Miglietti marked his second career brace. His last came against Saint Louis in the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals in 2021.
 
Stanford scored the equalizer in the 79th minute to bring the score to its final of 3-3.
 
Washington returns home for the final three matches of the regular season. The Huskies host UCLA on Thursday, Nov. 3 at 8 p.m. at Husky Soccer Stadium. Tickets for all remaining home contests can be found by clicking here.
