Avrit Co-Leader at Cal Poly Invite

CARMEL, Calif. – Owen Avrit shot a 6-under 66 in the second round and held a share of the individual lead heading to Tuesday's final round of the Cal Poly Invitational at The Prestige Golf Course.
 
No. 24 Oregon was tied for fourth with Washington at 9-under.
 
How It Happened: After a 2-under 286 that left the Ducks in eighth after the morning's opening round, Avrit led the charge up the leaderboard in the afternoon.
 
Avrit had seven birdies and one bogey in his afternoon round. He posted a 2-under 70 in the morning and was at 8-under 136 for the two rounds. He was tied for first with Shubham Jaglan of South Florida.
 
Avrit, a senior from Arroyo Grande, Calif., closed out his second round with a flourish, rolling in birdies on five of his last eight holes.
 
"Owen was awesome," said Oregon head coach Casey Martin.
 
There were 16 golfers within four shots of the lead, including Oregon's Greg Solhaug who was tied for 13th at 4-under 140. Solhaug led the Ducks in the opening round with a 4-under 68 followed by a 72 in the afternoon.
 
Aiden Krafft was tied for 39th at 1-over 145. The freshman from Albuquerque, N.M., bounced back from an opening round 76 with a 69 in the second round.

Notable: The Ducks played their final nine holes Tuesday in 7-under. … Solhaug's 68 matched his low round of the fall.
