Brianna Navarrosa, Amari Avery Lead USC's Efforts In Nanea Pac-12 Preview Opener
Junior Brianna Navarrosa and sophomore Amari Avery each carded par rounds to lead the USC women's golf team in the first round of the Nanea Pac-12 Preview at the Nanea G.C. in Kailua Kona, Hawaii.
The Trojans combined for a 4-over 296 on the par 73 course and are eighth in the 12-team event featuring all 11 teams in the Pac-12 that have women's golf programs as well as host Hawaii. Arizona State leads the field at 17-under.
Navarrosa and Avery each carded 73s and are tied for 21st. It was Avery's eighth round of par or better and Navarrosa's seventh.
Freshman Catherine Park finished at 1-over, junior Michaela Morard — in her season debut — posted a 3-over while junior Christine Wang finished at 5-over.
The Trojans are playing without sophomore Xin (Cindy) Kou who is getting set for the Women's Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship in Thailand.
USC's final tournament of the fall continues Tuesday and Wednesday (Nov. 1-2)
