Jaydon Grant Named A Burlsworth Trophy Nominee

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Oregon State defensive back Jaydon Grant has been named as a nominee for Burlsworth Trophy, which was announced Tuesday. The initial watch list of nominees comprises 81 football student-athletes from the FBS level.
 
The Burlsworth Trophy is given to the most outstanding football player in American who began his career as a Walk-On and has shown outstanding performance on the field. Each nominee must have begun his first season of participation with FBS (D1) football program without financial aid of any kind from his university's athletic department.
 
Grant, from West Linn, Ore., has played in 53 games since the 2017 season after arriving in Corvallis in 2016. He has started in 36 of those 53 games, tallying 202 tackles with 7.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, nine interceptions, four forced fumbles and 17 pass deflections.
 
This is the second season Grant has been named a Burlsworth nominee. In 2021, he was also selected All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention by the conference's coaches. In addition, he was named a Phil Steele All-Pac-12 Third Team member.
