Former Oregon State outfielder Steven Kwan has been selected as an American League Gold Glove winner for left field, Major League Baseball and Rawlings announced on Tuesday.
Kwan, who lettered for the Beavers from 2016-18 and was a fifth-round selection by Cleveland in the 2018 MLB Draft, is just the fifth rookie to win an American League Gold Glove in the outfield.
Kwan led all MLB left fielders with 21 defensive runs saved (DRS) and 10 outs above average. He ended the season with a .991 fielding percentage, and recorded seven assists with two double plays. He committed just two errors in 1,019 2/3 innings of play.
Kwan is the third Beaver to ever be recognized as an MLB Gold Glover, joining Jacoby Ellsbury in 2011 and Darwin Barney in 2012.
