SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Utah men's tennis team wrapped up the first day of competition at the ITA National Fall Championships at the Barnes Tennis Center this afternoon and advanced into the next round of play.
Geronimo Espin Busleiman faced Michael Zheng from Columbia University in the singles main draw. Espin Busleiman came away with a first-set win, 6-3. He dropped the second set and had a battle in the third set. Espin Busleiman captured the win for Utah, winning the third set 7-6 (4). He won his match 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (4).
The doubles main draw saw Berk Bugarikj and Patrik Trhac competing against Rafael Izquierdo Luque and Joseph Wayand from North Carolina State. The Utah duo won the first set 6-4, followed by a second set win 6-3 to clinch the match.
