Doubles Advances to ITA National Fall Championship Semifinals

SAN DIEGO – The Utah men's tennis squad completed another day at the ITA Fall National Championships this afternoon at the Barnes Tennis Center and had its doubles team advance in the main draw.
 
The doubles team consisting of Berk Bugarikj and Patrik Trhac advanced to the semifinal round of the main draw after a successful match. The duo faced Sebastian Rodriguez and Alan Magadan from UT San Antonio in the quarterfinals.
 
The first set was competitive, but the Utes came up short and lost 7-5. The Ute's pair bounced back and won 6-1 in the second set, forcing a tiebreaker. Utah came away with a 10-7 to win the match and advance to the semifinals.
 
The competition will continue Saturday as the Utah doubles team prepares to compete against Alexander Jong and Lui Maxted from TCU.
 
Geronimo Espin Busleiman went up against top-seeded Garrett Johns from Duke at the quarterfinal level in singles. After a challenging three-set match, Busleiman lost the victory to the opponent for the final score of 7-5, 1-6, 6-2.
