  • All-time, Utah is 26-19-2 against Arizona and 13-9 in Salt Lake City. Whittingham is 8-4 all-time vs. Arizona, with all but one of those 12 games (2005) coming in the Pac-12 era.
  • The Utes have won six straight over Arizona dating back to 2016 (no game in 2020).
  • Since joining the Pac-12 Conference in 2011, Utah is 58-43 in regular season league games and 33-19 at home.
  • Utah has won 13 consecutive home games (since Dec. 5, 2020) and 24 of its last 25 in Salt Lake City (since Oct. 12, 2018). The 13 straight home wins is the second-longest streak under Whittingham (short of 21 straight from Sept. 15, 2007-Oct. 23, 2010).
  • Kyle Whittingham is 151-72 in his 18 seasons at the helm of the Utes, plus the 2005 Fiesta Bowl. Including Whittingham's time as an assistant coach (1994-2004), he has been on the sidelines for 349 games and contributed to more victories (236) than any other coach in program history.
  • Utah is 22-14 in games when ranked in the CFP poll since the CFP's inception in 2014.
  • Utah has sold out Rice-Eccles Stadium in 75 consecutive games, dating back to the 2010 season opener. Capacity currently sits at 51,444 with the completion of the Ken Garff Red Zone in 2021. Previously, capacity was 45,807.
  • Utah won the coin toss and deferred. The Utes defended the North goal to begin the game.

Offense

  • Utah possessed the ball for 37:59, a season-best time of possession margin of 15 minutes, 58 seconds. It was the largest TOP margin in favor of the Utes since Nov. 23, 2019 at Arizona (19 minutes, 4 seconds).
  • Utah's 306 net rushing yards were a season-high for the team, surpassing the previous season-high of 246 vs. Southern Utah on Sept. 10. It went as the most rushing yards in a game since Nov. 5, 2021 at Stanford (441).
  • The Utes rushed for five touchdowns, tying a season-high (5 vs. Southern Utah).
  • Quarterback Cameron Rising returned to game action and made his 20th career start. Fellow quarterbacks Bryson Barnes and Nate Johnson also appeared, with Johnson making his collegiate debut.
  • Rising was 13-of-25 passing for 151 yards, a touchdown, no interceptions and one sack.
  • Rising now has 368 completions in his career, ranking ninth in program history. Jordan Wynn ranks eighth at Utah (381 completions from 2009-12).
  • Johnson rushed three times for 23 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He is the first Utah true freshman quarterback to rush for a touchdown since Tyler Huntley in the 2016 Foster Farms Bowl vs. Indiana, and the first since at least 1996 to rush for multiple touchdowns in a game.
  • Wide receiver Jaylen Dixon rushed for a 7-yard touchdown during the first quarter. It is Dixon's third rushing touchdown of the season and fifth of his career.
  • Dixon had a 25-yard reception during the first quarter, marking the second straight game Dixon has had a 25-yard or longer reception (27 at Washington State).
  • Dixon's 34 receiving yards were a season-high (previously 29 vs. Southern Utah).

  • Defensive tackle Aliki Vimahi logged his first sack of the season (12 yards) and third of his career.
  • Vaughn had a career-high three pass breakups, the most by a Ute since Clark Phillips III had three PBUs at USC on Oct. 9, 2021.
  • Utah's defense held its opponent scoreless on a game-opening drive for the eighth time this season and forced a turnover for the third time (fumble at Florida, interception vs. Oregon State, fumble vs. Arizona).
