Colorado Concludes Fall Season

DENVER- The University of Colorado women's tennis team concluded the 2022 fall season here Sunday, falling 4-3 in an exhibition dual to CSU.
The two teams split the singles matches evenly with three apiece, but CSU earned the upper hand with a 2-1 victory in the doubles point. Antonia Balzert and Aya El Sayed took the No.1 doubles match over Sarka Richterova and Viktoryia Zhadzinskaya 6-4, but the Buffs fell in No.2 and No.3 with Mila Stanojevic and Elys Ventura losing 4-1 and Ellen Puzak and Carri Hayes falling 6-4 in the No.3 match.
In singles play, Balzert picked up a No.2 singles win against Emily Dush by a score of 7-6, 6-2. Ventura and Stanojevic both picked up two set victories in the No.3 and No.4 matches, both fighting off difficult tiebreaker first sets before dominating the second. Ventura defeated Richterova in the No.3 singles match 7-6(8), 6-2, while Stanojevic defeated Sarah Weekley 7-6(4), 6-3 in the No.4 singles match.
El Sayed had a tough three-set match in the No.1 singles against Radka Buzkova. El Sayed took the first set 6-4, then fell in the second in a tiebreak of 7-6. The two played a prostyle third set tiebreaker where El Sayed lost 10-5. Puzak fell in the No.5 singles match with a pair of 6-2 sets, while Nelson dropped the No.6 singles match 6-1, 6-3.
The Buffaloes conclude their fall season and will return to training before hosting Weber State Jan. 20 for the start of the dual season.
