Softball Inks Five on National Signing Day

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Softball has announced that the team will welcome five of the nation's top recruits to the 2024 roster. Arizona's signing class is ranked No. 9 overall by Extra Inning Softball.
 
Arizona's signing class includes three pitchers, one utility player, and one outfielder. Ryan Maddox, a left-handed pitcher from Fresno, Calif., Brooke Mannon, a right-handed pitcher from West Jefferson, Ohio, Regan Shockey, a utility player from Chino Hills, Calif., Aissa Silva, a left-handed pitcher from Tucson, Ariz., and Zaedi Tagalog, an outfielder from Tucson, Ariz. have signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Wildcats.
 
"We're thrilled to welcome this 2023 class to the Wildcat Family," head coach Caitlin Lowe said. "We've added three top competitors in the circle and all three can pack a punch at the plate, as well. In addition, we've added some offensive threats at the plate and speed on the bases. We can't wait to watch them continue to develop and see them make their own mark on this program!"

Ryan says: "I chose the University of Arizona because the people and environment made it feel like home. The coaches and players were very welcoming when visiting. I also want to play for a winning and competitive program."          
 
Coach Lowe says: "We can't wait to have Ryan join this squad of pitchers. She is a fierce competitor on the mound and loves the championship-level moments. She is a lefty with great spin and command in the circle."

Brooke says: "I chose Arizona because I want to play softball at the highest level possible, on the most competitive team. I love the atmosphere that the team and coaches have created. The University of Arizona also offers great academics and a nationally-ranked business program."
 
Coach Lowe says: "We are so excited for Brooke to join this pitching staff. She provides a different look for us with a great drop and solid off-speed presence. We can't wait to watch her grow under Taryne's mentorship."

Regan says: "I chose the University of Arizona because I wanted to be a part of a legacy. Arizona is known for its great softball program and an amazing stadium atmosphere. I wanted to be part of the culture of the University of Arizona and be a Wildcat."
 
Coach Lowe says: "Regan is a true triple-threat. She has great hands and barrel control and is a spark plug at the top of the lineup. She can do a lot of different things defensively as a true outfielder, but she can hold it down in the infield, as well."

Aissa Silva

Aissa says: "Arizona is my home, and I grew up going to the Arizona Softball games, so it has always been my dream to go to the U of A since I was young. I love the dedicated fans and the environment is beyond amazing."
 
Coach Lowe says: "We are excited to welcome Aissa back home in Tucson. She will be a huge addition to the bullpen as a lefty pitcher with great spin. She loves the game and loves to compete at a high level."

Zaedi says: "I chose Arizona because I get to stay close to home and my family will be able to attend more games. I love the weather in Arizona and have dreamt of playing for Arizona since I was a little girl."
 
Coach Lowe says: "Zaedi is a Tucson standout. She is a very tough out and provides a lot of speed on the bases, as well as hitting for average. She has a very good arm and range in the outfield."
