Huskies Take Two Team Tickets To Nationals

Nov 12, 2022

SEATTLE -- The one day wait was worth it for the Husky cross country teams, as both the men's and women's squads were named to the NCAA Cross Country Championships during Saturday's selection show.

The Dawgs were coming off a pair of matching third-place finishes at Friday's NCAA West Regional Championships that UW hosted at Chambers Creek Regional Park. With the top-two teams at each region auto advancing, the Huskies had to wait for at-large bids, but were confident that they would make the 31-team fields.

Now safely in, the Huskies will focus on the final race of the year, the NCAA Championships in Stillwater, Okla. on Nov. 19.

The women's race will go at 7:20 a.m. Pacific time and the men's race starts at 8:10 a.m. The meet will be televised live on ESPNU.

This is the sixth-straight season that both the Husky men's and women's teams have qualified for nationals. Washington is one of nineteen programs this year that qualified both men's and women's squads.

The women have now made 16 consecutive NCAA Championships, and 29 overall. It's the 20th overall appearance for the Husky men.
