Last Time Out – UCLA vs. UC Riverside (Nov. 10)

UCLA Women's Basketball took down UC Riverside on Thursday, Nov. 10 in a 64-43 victory over the Highlanders. Emily Bessoir led all Bruins in scoring, putting 16 points on the board on 5-for-9 shooting. Freshman Gabriela Jaquez made her first start of her young career, putting up nine points and six rebounds in just under 19 minutes of play. The Bruins took home the victory in front of a crowd of 3,918 fans, comprised of school teachers, administrators and students who attended UCLA's annual Field Trip Day game.

Key Notes on the Bruins

– Charisma Osborne has been in the Bruins' starting lineup for 80-consecutive games in which she appeared, and the 5-foot-9 guard has reached double-digit scoring in 64 of those matchups. Osborne is currently on a 6-game streak with 10+ points scored, and has made 32 of her last 34 free throw attempts over that stretch.
– While trips to the charity stripe are on the mind: six Bruins are shooting a perfect 1.000 from the free throw line through the first two games (C. Osborne: 8-8, E. Bessoir: 4-4, D. Onu: 4-4, C. Iwuala: 2-2, G. Conti: 2-2, L. Jones: 4-4).
– Redshirt-sophomore Emily Bessoir continues to be a key contributor in the frontcourt for the Bruins. The German national put up a career-best 16 points in Thursday's win over UC Riverside after a 14-point outing in the win over Cal Poly. Bessoir tied Osborne for a team-high nine rebounds in UCLA's first win of the season.
– Freshman floor general Kiki Rice played the most minutes (28:26) out of any Bruin against Cal Poly, and she put up a 12-point, seven assist performance in her debut. Rice played another 26 minutes against UC Riverside and was a team-best +33 in the win.
– Freshman Gabriela Jaquez earned a starting spot on Nov. 10 after making a big impact off the bench in the season opener. Jaquez is averaging 9.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game through her first two contests.
– All five freshmen got on the board in their college debuts. The Bruin newcomers are immediately contributing to UCLA's winning efforts, totaling 58 of the team's 148 points and grabbing 33 rebounds through the first two games.
– All 10 UCLA players who saw game time scored against Cal Poly, and 10 out of the 11 Bruins that hit the floor against UC Riverside put points on the board.
