Nov 15, 2022

SALT LAKE CITY – Five members of the University of Utah women's soccer team, Courtney Brown, Kaitlyn Conley, Haley Farrar, Kylee Geis and Maryn Granger earned spots on the College Sports Communicators academic all-district team, which was announced on Tuesday.

Five represents a new program-best for the Utes, whose previous high was four honorees, which occurred in 2014.

Brown, an accounting major, owns a 3.87 GPA and her soccer statistics for the most recent season including three goals, three assists and nine points, all tied for second-most on the roster. One of the highlights of the 2022 campaign for Brown came on Oct. 9, when she recorded her first career brace as her squad cruised to a 6-0 triumph. Her numbers also included an assist in the season-opener at Portland and another score in Utah's home opener against Colorado State. Brown's academic achievements include making the Pac-12 Fall Academic Honor Roll three times.

Conley saw action in 12 contests during her sophomore year and she also got in on the fun on Oct. 9, registering her first career goal in the 71st minute. She set a season-high in minutes played on Aug. 28 and her efforts on that day contributed to a 2-0 triumph over Illinois State. Conley's hard work in the academic arena has earned her a flawless 4.00 GPA while she majors in Business.

Another three-time member of the Pac-12 Fall Academic Honor Roll is Farrar, who helped the Utes collect seven clean sheets in 2022 and, in the season finale against Colorado, she knocked in her first goal of the year in the 67th minute to help the Utes earn a 2-2 tie. She did this while crafting a 3.52 GPA and pursuing a degree in Environment and Sustainability Studies.

A psychology major, Geis, a two-time Pac-12 Fall Academic Honor Roll choice, has put together a 4.00 GPA. A native of Boise, Idaho, Geis saw action in 17 matches and the Utes didn't allow a goal in five of those fixtures, including the squad's rout of OSU, where she played a season-high 53 minutes.

Granger was one of only four Utes who participated in every match in 2022 and her exploits on the field included scoring her first career goal on Sept. 23 to help Utah beat Arizona. Granger added an assist on Sept. 29 against Washington and was also a member of the back line during all seven of her team's shutouts. Her exploits on the pitch did not stop her from posting a 4.00 GPA while majoring in Kinesiology.

In order to be eligible for the All-District Team, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and are required to have competed in at least 50% of their team's matches during the year. Additionally, they must have completed at least one full calendar year at their current institution.
