Gerbet Named Pac-12 Player of the Year

CORVALLIS – Oregon State midfielder Joran Gerbet headlined an extensive group of Oregon State Pac-12 award-winners, as the sophomore was named conference Player of the Year on Tuesday.
 
Gerbet was joined on the All-Conference First Team by Clarence Awoudor and Mouhameth Thiam. Javier Armas and Gael Gibert both earned Second Team recognition, while Nicklas Lund and Dante Williams were selected as Pac-12 Honorable Mentions.
 
Gerbet joins Danny Mwanga, Khiry Shelton and Sofiane Djeffal as Beavers to earn Pac-12 Player of the Year honors. The midfielder has started 15 matches in the midfield this season, and was selected as Pac-12 Player of the Week on Monday. Gerbet was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Year and All-Pac-12 First Team last season.
 
Awoudor joined the Oregon State squad early in the season, starting 11 of the 12 games he played. The freshman scored two goals, including one against Stanford at Lorenz Field, and recorded a pair of assists on the season,
 
Thiam leads the Beavers in both goals and assists this season, with five and four, respectively. The forward has scored in five of his last seven matches.
 
Armas started the first 11 matches of the season as part of the Oregon State back line, before missing the last few weeks due to injury. Armas' season was highlighted by a two-goal performances in the Beavers' 2-1 win at Denver.
 
Gibert has started every game on the back line for Oregon State this season. He scored a vital goal in the Beavers' win at Stanford, and was a Pac-12 Second Team honoree in 2021.
 
Lund has started every game for OSU during his two seasons with the team. He has helped Oregon State hold four clean sheets this season, including a shutout of No. 1 Washington last week.
 
Williams scored three goals and tallied two assists during the regular season. He started 14 matches, and netted the game-winning marker in the Beavers' win over Seattle U.
 
The Beavers were selected as the No. 8 seed in the NCAA Tournament Monday morning. OSU will host the winner of Thursday's match between UC Riverside and Portland on Sunday at Lorenz Field. More info on the NCAA Tournament is available here.
