Tempe, Ariz. – Head Coach Cliff English announced the additions of Britney Brown and Sidney Clement to Sun Devil Triathlon for the 2023 season on Wednesday morning. They bring skill, a dedication to the sport, and are eager to compete at the next level with the six-time national champion Sun Devils.
Britney Brown was born in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, but moved to O'Fallon, Illinois, when she was 12 years-old. She started competitive swimming at a youth-level, with her strengths being the backstroke and butterfly. She was a part of the 2022 Junior Worlds Team and had top-10 finishes in the last two Junior European Cups, and the last two Americas Triathlon Cups. She also finished in second at the 1500m freestyle at Speedo Sectionals. She is a multi-sport athlete, having competed in cross country and track in high school. Her parents competed in triathlons, and she competed in races like Ironkids and kids Xterras growing up.
"I'm very excited about the incredible potential of Britney Brown and I think she's going to be a very strong addition for us," English said. "She comes from a very high level as a swimmer and a strong high school runner. She's only been in the sport of draft-legal triathlon for a few short seasons, but she aleady represented USA Triathlon this summer at the World Championships and other top junior events internationally. I'm excited to coach her and really develop her over the next four years as a Sun Devil Triathlete!"
