LOS ANGELES - No. 4 Stanford's season came to an end on Sunday afternoon, as the Cardinal dropped a 14-10 decision to USC in the championship game of the MPSF Tournament and was spurned by the NCAA selection committee for the national tournament.

The Cardinal finishes its season 22-5, featuring two wins over No. 1 California and another against No. 2 UCLA. Stanford hosted the MPSF Invite in late September, winning the event, and won its most games since 2015.

Stanford was slow to start on offense, falling behind 3-1 after the first quarter. The Cardinal continued to claw back, drawing within 4-3 and 5-4, but the Trojans struck for two straight before halftime, taking a 7-5 lead into the break.

USC scored first in the third period, and the Cardinal couldn't get closer than within two to effectively pressure the Trojans, ultimately falling 14-10.
