#PAC12MBB STARTING FIVE:
104.3 - ARIZONA is averaging an NCAA Division I-high 104.3 points, breaking 100 three times during its 4-0 start.
- The Wildcats are the first Pac-12 team since UCLA in 2016-17 to eclipse 100 points in three of its first four games.
- ARIZONA’s Azuolas Tubelis is averaging 22.5 points on 74 percent shooting (37-50), joining Indiana’s Trayce Jackson-Davis (20.8 ppg/.756) as the only Power Conference players averaging 20 points on 70 percent shooting per College Basketball Reference.
3 - Pac-12 programs have combined for three victories against AP Top 25 ranked opponents so far this season, currently tied for the most of any conference in the country (Big 12).
- COLORADO owns two of the victories - over #11 Tennessee and #24 Texas A&M; ARIZONA STATE knocked off #20 Michigan to win the Legends Classic.
- All three victories have been by 12-or-more points, giving the league three AP Top 25 victories by double figures during non-conference play for the first time since 2007-08. The league last had four such wins in 2001-02.
3 & 10 - ARIZONA STATE claimed the Legends Classic title in Brooklyn last week with a comeback 63-59 victory over VCU followed by an 87-62 rout of No. 20 Michigan.
- The Legends Classic title is the third MTE crown (2017 Las Vegas Invitational, 2018 MGM Main Event) in the past six seasons for the Sun Devils under Bobby Hurley.
- The victory over Michigan also marked ASU’s 10th over an AP Top 25 team in the past eight seasons under Hurley.
5 & 9 - Plenty of key opportunities are among the 27 games scheduled for Feast Week as Pac-12 programs will face:
- At least five (and up to 10) AP Top 25 opponents - #14 ARIZONA vs. #17 San Diego State, #14 ARIZONA vs. #9 Arkansas/#10 Creighton, OREGON STATE vs. #8 Duke, OREGON vs. #20 UConn, OREGON vs. #18 Alabama/#12 Michigan State
- At least nine (and up to 15) Power 6 conference opponents - UTAH vs. Mississippi State, USC vs. Butler/Tennessee, STANFORD vs. Ole Miss, OREGON STATE vs. Duke, OREGON vs. UConn, OREGON STATE vs. Florida/Xavier, CALIFORNIA vs. TCU, OREGON vs. Alabama/Michigan State, CALIFORNIA vs. Clemson/Iowa
26 - Pac-12 Men’s Basketball programs combined to sign 26 prospects to National Letters of Intent during the early signing period.
- Of the 26, 18 are ranked as either 4-Star prospects or better, including seven 5-Star signees with OREGON and STANFORD signing a pair apiece, COLORADO inking its first 5-Star under Tad Boyle, and USC and WASHINGTON each landing one.
PAC-12 NOTES
SUNNIN’ UTES: After defeating Georgia Tech on Monday, UTAH will be seeking its second straight MTE crown in the state of Florida when it battles Mississippi State in the Fort Myers Tip-Off title game Wednesday.
- The Runnin’ Utes defeated Boston College and Tulsa to win the Sunshine Slam in Daytona Beach and improve to 5-0 in Craig Smith’s debut season in 2021-22.
- With eight of the league’s nine remaining MTE events to be contested this week, the Pac-12 will be eying its league record four MTE titles in 2017-18.
