Utah Football Lands Four On CSC Academic All-District Team

SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah Football program landed four student-athletes on the 2022 College Sports Communications Academic All-District Football Team with Bryson Barnes, R.J. Hubert, Connor O'Toole and Karene Reid being honored.

Academic All-District honorees will advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot with first and second-team selections being announced in December. All four student-athletes are receiving their first Academic All-District recognition of their careers.

Barnes earned a spot on the Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll in 2021, and has been named to the Dean's List and AD Honor Roll four times during his career at Utah. This season, Barnes has seen action in seven games, starting against Washington State, and is 23-of-33 passing for 273 yards and two touchdowns.

Hubert is a three-time Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll selection and was a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy in 2022, also landing on the Dean's List four times and the AD Honor Roll eight times. He is currently second on the team in total tackles (63), adding two forced fumbles, two recoveries, two interceptions (one pick-six) and two pass breakups.

O'Toole also earned Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll in 2021 and has been named to the Dean's List three times and the AD Honor Roll four times at Utah. Making his debut at defensive end in 2022 after switching from wide receiver, O'Toole has recorded 29 total tackles (2.5 TFL, 0.5 sacks) with two quarterback hurries and a pass breakup.

Rounding out Utah's honorees is Reid, who has been named to the Dean's List twice and the AD Honor Roll two times as well. He has started all 11 games, racking up 61 tackles (7.0 TFL, 4.0 sacks), one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, an interception, two quarterback hurries and two pass breakups.

The Utes will play their final regular season game on the road, heading to Boulder, Colo., on Saturday, Nov. 26 against the Colorado Buffaloes. Opening kick is set for 2 p.m. MT on Pac-12 Networks.
