Beavers Fall to Portland State

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Oregon State men's basketball team wrapped up its run at the Phil Knight Legacy tournament with an 83-71 loss to Portland State Sunday evening at the Chiles Center.
 
Jordan Pope led the Beavers with 23 points, going 6-for-10 from the floor and knocking down all 10 of his free throw attempts. Fellow freshman Jayden Stevens had nine points off the bench, with seven of them coming from the free throw line.
 
Tyler Bilodeau tallied nine points and four rebounds on 3-for-5 shooting, while Glenn Taylor had nine points and four assists. Dexter Akanno finished with nine points and four rebounds.
 
As a team, the Beavers shot 43 percent from the floor.
 
The Vikings jumped in front early, taking an 11-1 advantage into the game's first media timeout. The Beavers bounced back with 10 unanswered points to get back within five at the under-12 break.
 
Portland State headed to the locker room in front 45-34.
 
Oregon State got within eight early in the second half, but could not get any closer as the Vikings took the win by 12.
 
The Beavers will open Pac-12 play Thursday when Washington visits Gill Coliseum.
